Fried shrimp

Here’s a crispy, classic fried shrimp recipe that’s easy and turns out golden every time 🍤


Fried Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled & deveined (tails on or off)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko (panko = extra crispy)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to about 350°F (medium-high).
  2. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
  3. Set up 3 bowls:
    • Bowl 1: flour mixed with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder
    • Bowl 2: eggs whisked with milk
    • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs or panko
  4. Coat shrimp:
    • Dredge in flour
    • Dip in egg
    • Press into breadcrumbs
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
  6. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle lightly with salt.

Dipping Sauce Ideas

  • Cocktail sauce
  • Tartar sauce
  • Honey mustard
  • Ranch
  • Sweet chili sauce

Tips for Extra Crunch

  • Use panko breadcrumbs
  • Let breaded shrimp rest 5 minutes before frying
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan
