🍎 Apple Pie Bread Recipe

Ingredients

For the bread:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1 ½ cups peeled, diced apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)

For the cinnamon-sugar swirl:

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prep:
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 loaf pan or line with parchment.
  2. Mix dry ingredients:
    In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Cream butter + sugar:
    In a separate large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  4. Combine:
    Mix in the sour cream, then gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in the diced apples.
  5. Layer + swirl:
    Pour half the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle half the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Add remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar. Use a knife to gently swirl.
  6. Bake:
    Bake for 55–65 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in the pan 10 minutes before removing.

Serving Ideas

  • Toast slices and spread with butter
