🍏 Easy Apple Turnovers (using puff pastry)

Ingredients (makes 8 turnovers)

  • 2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for glaze

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling
    • In a pan, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Add diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
    • Cook 5–7 min until apples soften slightly.
    • Add cornstarch to thicken if mixture is runny. Cool completely.
  2. Prepare the pastry
    • Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).
    • Roll out puff pastry and cut into 8 squares.
  3. Assemble
    • Spoon 1–2 tbsp filling onto each square.
    • Fold into a triangle and seal edges with a fork.
    • Cut a small vent on top.
    • Brush with beaten egg.
  4. Bake
    • Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  5. Optional glaze
    • Mix Β½ cup powdered sugar + 1–2 tsp milk.
    • Drizzle over warm turnovers.
