Here’s a delicious, lighter take on Baked Apple Fritters—crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside, without deep frying. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a snack.

🧾 Ingredients

Fritters

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🔪 Instructions

1. Preheat the oven

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.

2. Mix dry ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.

3. Mix wet ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.

4. Combine

  • Pour wet mixture into dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  • Fold in diced apples.

5. Shape fritters

  • Use a spoon to drop batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small mounds (~2–3 inches).
  • Space 1–2 inches apart.

6. Bake

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, until fritters are golden brown and set.
  • Cool slightly on a wire rack.

7. Glaze (optional)

  • Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
  • Drizzle over warm fritters.

  • Extra cinnamon sugar: Toss warm fritters in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar instead of glazing.
  • Add-ins: Chopped nuts, raisins, or dried cranberries.
  • Mini fritters: Use a teaspoon to make bite-sized versions—great for snacking.
  • Healthier swap: Use whole wheat flour or reduce sugar slightly.
