Cheesy Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread (about 12 inches)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning (or dried basil/oregano)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Prepare the Bread:
    • Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, so you have two long pieces. You can also cut it into smaller individual pieces if you prefer.
  3. Make the Cheesy Butter Mixture:
    • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
    • Stir in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
  4. Spread the Cheese Mixture:
    • Spread the cheesy garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Be generous!
  5. Bake:
    • Place the bread halves on the prepared baking sheet, cut-side up.
    • Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to brown. For extra crispy edges, you can broil it for the last 1-2 minutes, but watch carefully so it doesn’t burn.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • After baking, remove from the oven and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley (optional).
