Here’s a simple recipe for crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites:

Crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

For the salmon:

  • 1 lb skinless salmon fillets (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce (or more for added sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (or adjust to taste for more heat)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
  • 1/2 tsp rice vinegar (for tang)
  • Pinch of salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Salmon:
    • Cut the salmon fillets into bite-sized pieces (about 1-1.5 inches).
    • Season the salmon pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare the Breading:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • In another shallow bowl, beat the egg.
    • Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.
  3. Coat the Salmon:
    • Dredge each piece of salmon in the flour mixture, coating it completely.
    • Dip the floured salmon into the beaten egg, letting any excess drip off.
    • Roll the salmon in the panko breadcrumbs until each piece is evenly coated.
  4. Fry the Salmon Bites:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the salmon pieces in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
    • Fry the salmon bites for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Remove the cooked salmon pieces from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  5. Make the Bang Bang Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey (if using), rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt. Taste and adjust the heat level if needed by adding more sriracha or sweet chili sauce.
  6. Toss the Salmon in the Sauce:
    • Place the crispy salmon bites in a large bowl. Drizzle the Bang Bang sauce over the salmon and gently toss to coat each piece in the sauce. Be careful not to break the salmon pieces.
  7. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired. They pair perfectly with a side of rice, veggies, or a simple salad.

Optional Garnishes:

  • Sesame seeds (black or white) for a crunchy, nutty finish.
  • Chopped cilantro or green onions for freshness.
  • A squeeze of lime for a zesty kick.

Tips for Perfect Crispy Salmon Bites:

  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying, as it will cause the salmon to steam instead of crisp up.
  • You can also bake the salmon bites if you prefer a healthier version: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C), place the coated salmon on a baking sheet, and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until crispy and cooked through.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha based on your heat preference. If you like it milder, use less sriracha and more sweet chili sauce.

These Crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites are crispy, flavorful, and packed with a deliciously spicy-sweet punch. Perfect for a fun dinner or party appetizer! Let me know how they turn out if you try them!
