🥬 Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 1 bunch gumbo greens (or substitute with collard greens), cleaned and chopped
  • 2 cups chopped cabbage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or bacon drippings
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: smoked ham hock or cooked bacon for extra flavor

🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook the aromatics:
    • Heat oil or bacon drippings in a large pot over medium heat.
    • Sauté onion and garlic until soft and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Add the greens and cabbage:

  3. Simmer:
