Here’s a taco pizza that hits that retro pizza-parlor / family-night sweet spot—crispy crust, seasoned beef, melty cheese, then fresh taco toppings on top.


Taco Pizza (Classic Style)

Serves 3–4

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

Taco meat

  • 500 g (1 lb) minced beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
    (or 1 tbsp chili powder + 1 tsp cumin + ½ tsp paprika + salt)
  • ⅓ cup water

Sauce layer

  • ½ cup refried beans
    (or salsa mixed with a little sour cream)

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Colby-Jack

Fresh toppings (after baking)

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced black olives
  • Green onions
  • Sour cream or taco sauce, drizzled

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F / 220°C.
  2. Brown beef in a skillet. Add taco seasoning + water. Simmer until thick. Set aside.
  3. Roll dough into a pizza round. Brush edges lightly with olive oil.
  4. Spread refried beans thinly over crust (leave a small edge).
  5. Top with taco meat, then cheeses.
  6. Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Cool 3–5 minutes, then add fresh toppings.
  8. Slice and serve.

Optional Upgrades

  • Dorito crunch: crushed tortilla chips sprinkled on top after baking
  • Spicy: jalapeños or hot sauce drizzle
  • Chicken taco pizza: swap beef for seasoned chicken
  • Southwest sauce: mix sour cream + taco seasoning for drizzle

Pro Tips

  • Don’t add lettuce before baking—it wilts.
  • Use a pizza stone or preheated pan for extra-crispy crust.
  • This reheats best in the oven or air fryer, not the microwave.
